Grappa Recioto Amarone DOP Q.S. Quintarelli Schiavo. A limited edition young (unaged) grappa, produced by distilling the finest pomace obtained from the Giuseppe Quintarelli winery in the municipality of Negrar, in the province of Verona. Distilled in low-pressure copper stills used by the Schiavo family since 1887. Grape pomace: 55% Corvina and Corvinone, 30% Rondinella, 15% Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Sangiovese. The grappa is smooth, slightly herbaceous, with a long-lasting taste. Notes of cherry jam, raspberries, and wild berries are noticeable. Alc.: 43%. 500 ml.

Giuseppe Quintarelli's renowned winery in the Veneto region has gained recognition for its almost mythical Amarone, Recioto, and cult Alzero wines. Although other producers, such as Romano dal Forno, a former protégé of Giuseppe Quintarelli, produce excellent Amarone wines, Quintarelli's Amarone is undoubtedly the benchmark for this wine. Giuseppe, or "Beppe" Quintarelli, has also set the standard for other red wines, including Recioto and Valpolicella Superiore. He died in January 2012 at the age of 84, and his wife Franca died a year later. Their children continue the winemaking tradition, having learned the craft from the man known as the "master (or maestro) of Veneto." A perfectionist who selected grapes with the utmost care and attention, Quintarelli only released his wines onto the market when he himself decided that the time was right – often many years after other Veneto producers had released their wines. Today, the Quintarelli winery follows a winemaking protocol developed by Giuseppe, based on the practices of his father and grandfather. As a result, Quinarelli wines are always in very short supply, in high demand, and of stratospheric quality—even the most knowledgeable wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts find it difficult to obtain Quintarelli wines. The limited quantities of Quintarelli Amarone, Recioto, and Valpolicella wines—symbols of perfection—are wines that teach those who enjoy them to slow down and be silent. They are unlike any other wines in the world. As IWM founder Sergio Esposito said, "a rocket."
